Murdoch Mysteries on Set

June 14, 2012  ·  9:08 am

A huge shout out to the exceptionally talented art and creative team on CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries. Costume designer Alex Reda and assistant Randi  Littlefair, on set dresser- who was my saviour- Paul Breckenridge, who managed to shimmy me in and out of this dress with the help of others and a stepladder; hair goddesses Lucy Orton and Renee Chan, makeup wizards Deb Drennan and Yasmeen Jalali.

And of course, the dashing Jonny Harris as Crabtree, pictured here with me. A very fun shoot.

NXNE- Singing with The Fires Of

June 9, 2012  ·  7:39 pm

My old friend and drummer Greg Heard, who played on my album, Lustre- check out the album under music– asked me to fill in for their female singer in his band, The Fires Of during NXNE this Thursday, June 14th, at 8 pm at Monarch Tavern.

Their singer and guitar player are off in Norway for the summer so myself and another great multi instrumentalist, Scott (whose last name I’m blanking on) are filling in the blanks, so to speak.  I’ll be covering all the bv’s , perhaps whipping out my awesome tambourine skills….just loving learning a whole sets worth of new original alternative pop~rock tunes. A great group of musicians- should be a terrifically fun evening. Rehearsal reminds me how much I love (miss) being in a band. Check out the embedded links for more information. Likely a one off so don’t miss it!

I have been a certified personal trainer since 2005. It’s a great gig for an actor: flexible, disciplined, creative, and above all, it keeps me sane physically and mentally. I had the privilege of working with 2 dear friends on this video- Mark Mainguy who did the shooting and Anthony Grani who edited  the footage into this  short piece.  People always ask me what it is I do when I train. This is how I roll.

Murdoch Mysteries!

May 30, 2012  ·  9:04 am

Just booked a fabulous role on Murdoch Mysteries, which will now be airing on CBC here in Canada. It’s going into it’s 6th season, and I’ll be appearing as Jean Palmerston, the proprietor of a hat shop in “Murdoch On The Corner”.  I’m heading into wardrobe tomorrow- so much fun to play in period pieces for camera. Nothing says character quite like a corset and bustle. Stay tuned for more details as they come!

50/50 “Blanket”

March 2, 2012  ·  9:13 am

In April of 2010, just before moving back to Toronto from Vancouver, I had the privilege of working on the Untitled Seth Rogen Project, which was called I’m With Cancer at the time. I remember there being a suggestion box on set  for a new title for the film. It eventually became 50/50. I had initially auditioned for a very funny role of a Laughter Therapist, which was written out so they brought me back in for the Cute Nurse. Which became the Friendly Nurse when I was cast.

The final edit is shorter than the actual scene but still, a wonderful experience and Ms Huston is one of my idols…

The Town Christmas Forgot, One More Time

December 4, 2011  ·  6:06 pm

It’s that time of year, again! The Town Christmas Forgot, (IMDB) a lovely little holiday Movie of the Week I did for Hallmark last year, starring Lauren Holly, Rick Roberts, Azer Greco, Lauren’s real life son, and me, is on air again. I’ve found the schedule for the W network here in Canada: you can catch it again on:

Monday Dec. 5th at 2 pm (EST),

Tuesday Dec. 6th at noon (EST),

Monday Dec. 12th at 2 pm (EST),

Tuesday Dec. 13th at 7 pm (EST),

Saturday Dec. 17th at noon (EST),

Wednesday Dec. 21st at 9 pm (EST).

I do believe it’s been airing in the US as well on Hallmark so perhaps that info is somewhere online, too. Woo hoo! It’s almost Christmas! And Hanukkah! And Solstice! And Kwanza! And Chrismakkuh!!!
